The DH and i were rudely awoken around 3.35 this morning when his cell phone rang incessantly.
It was his classmate from law-school, Wilhelm, with the shocking news that the DH's father had earlier been shot dead! In Sipalay a city some 160km south of Bacolod, no less!
Wilhelm had reportedly gotten the news from a lawyer friend of his. The DH was understandably shaken, so he called my MIL on my cellphone to confirm the terrible news. And thankfully, Daddy was safely sound asleep in bed!
It turns out, Wilhelm was actually trying to contact James Nicolas, the son of the slain British national who runs a business in Sipalay. And probably, befuddled (by sleep, alcohol, senility, haste, etc, take your pick) Wilhelm dialed the wrong James!
Arrrggh. Nasty! We think he had the best intentions, but the gravity of the situation warranted extra care, wouldn't you?! I'd probably be having second, third and fourth thoughts about dialing up someone(the right person!) to relay such devastating news!
The poor DH, he had icy fingers when he crawled back into bed after calling his mom. It took us both a while to recover from the experience. The DH managed to kid that he now knew what it felt like to be "shocked"! We were just thankful that Daddy is safe.
We heard more about the shooting during the evening news, and it is such an unfortunate incident, and will be praying for the family and friends of the poor businessman who met his death so violently.

On a lighter note, my cousin, Manang Glynn came over for a visit from Cebu. Her youngest sister is home from Libya where she works, and they had a reunion of sorts.
Manang Glynn is my personal favorite, among all the cousins i have from both maternal and paternal sides. She is much older than the rest of us, and i have vivid memories of her taking care of my brother and i when we visited them in our childhood. She was very patient, and always cheerful(still is) with us kids and we enjoyed being with her when she was home.
Now, she has 3 kids, 2 daughters who are honor students and student leaders, and a younger son. She lives with her family in Cebu and is rarely here in Negros, so we enjoy having her around. The last time she was here was for the DH's birthday December of last year. Hope we can spend quality time with her in the next few days before she leaves by Sunday.
The DH have to finish the outrageously funny comedy Black Dynamite,(so far we've been interrupted twice) so this is it for me tonight, talk to you again soon. A bientot!
