PissPatrol Part 2

july 30, friday:

woke up early friday morning because of the tentative return trip to alangilan to follow up on the pupils after the urinalysis screening. just texted lynette, my nurse at brgy 40, not to expect me if im still not in by 9am since i had to go CHO, and hopefully alangilan. turns out that after a bit of drama (shot the messenger, right steph?), we got to leave.

we arrived to find the sound system blaring at the covered court:it was the culmination of the Nutrition Month celebration and they were having a program for it that same morning. we set up just outside the faculty room, comandeering the security guard's table in the process. we had the kids who needed their urine rechecked come in and do that.then i had to individually examine the kids with findings...and then give them medications and strict instructions to relay to their parents.  most of them were asymptomatic, but a few had really significant results so they had to be given antibiotics. here's hoping they do complete their treatment regimens. we wrapped up close to lunch time, so we got to eat lunch there again. i had a quick chat with the young principal about medical stuff(including her hypertensive husband who was loath to take anti-HPN meds because of the risk for impotence and the prevalence of influenza & hepatitis A infections in the community).

i was looking to buy some fruits and vegetables before we left, but the teachers there kindly offered the fruits and vegetables that were part of the contests for the Nutrition month activities for us to bring home! we certainly filled the back of stephen's mini-truck with lanzones, santol, rambutan, even fragrant gourds!it felt like we had all come from canlaon, a mountain city famous for its fresh and cheap vegetables. we were able to share some of our bounty with our friends, even with a rep who met us at the parking lot and offered to take our pix with the veggies, lol!

did some coverage while filling out forms betweens reps.then went to rm 9, where i found joy and stephen sorting through some tshirts for a diabetes congress saturday am. then stephen dropped me off at home with my bags and bags of marang, rambutan and lanzones! DH was napping, so i surfed a bit until i got sleepy myself. took a short nap before we had to **shower to meet up for a dinner symposium. but first, we had to drop off the marang and ube puto for LBI at 20th, then we hurriedly walked the few blocks to the hotel before it seriously started raining. dinner was yummy but guilt-free(to my mind!)..i had lots of the greens with some mildly creamy dressing (because they didnt have vinaigrette), samosas, battered fish fillets with tropical fruits. then dessert was a gelatin number with sliced peaches on the top and a strawberry cream filling inside, and some buko-pandan the DH shared with me. LBI had arrived from church and i handed her the dvd id made of the birthday video.

the lecture on NAFL(non alcoholic fatty liver) was very comprehensive and (mildly entertaining) as the very articulate speaker was very engaging! the DH said he could understand the lecture, even if he was not a doctor!but then again, he was a bio grad, so most of the terms werent greek to him anyway. it turns out the speaker was also a "bottom-liner" (from boy abunda's show)...no wonder he looked familiar(and showbizzy somewhat)! we really look forward to the rest of the modules with him.

after the DS, we had coffee and dessert at calea with LBI. DH and she had brewed coffee and they shared in the black sambo that i ordered. i learned from LBI that putting salt into the coffee takes away the bitter taste. hmm, nice to know. im just a social coffee drinker at best...that stuff had no effect on me during med school. no amount or strength of coffee could keep me up if i was sleepy. my m.o. back then was to study (and mini nap) all through the night and early morning, but it was imperative that i slept for at least a couple of hours before my regular waking time of around 6am(to get to class or exams by 7:30 or 8). even that short sleep tricked my body into thinking id gotten a full night's worth of rest..and id be recharged for the rest of the day! ah, the resiliency of youth! not that im saying im old...but nowadays, if im just a few hours short of my 8 hours of sleep, im cranky and tired the whole day, and will need to nap before dinner and conk out early too. so on the occasional nights when we're out till 2 or 3 in the morning...im not getting up before noon the next day! unless i get hungry and have to get up by 10 or 11am...then il need a loong (like 3-4hrs) nap in the afternoon! im a sleepy-head alright. it used to bug my papa when we'd sleep in during weekends coz he (being someone who woke up with dawn and retired at cicadas-song) felt we'd wasted half of the day! but he'd relent if my mama told him to let us be, since it was the weekends after all. thank godness for the intercession of mothers!:)

anyway, we walked LBI home to 20th... and she showed us her new entrance through the back patio. it was very convenient for the "bachelorette" like her not to go through the main doors. oh, and she gave me silver drop earrings (in thanks perhaps for the video i made?yay!). they're tiny pretty things, i cant wait to wear them on a special occasion.

DH and i watched the second steve austin dvd (the stranger) and we finished by 1am. then we both gravitated to our pcs again.aimee caught me still up when i checked my mail and fb. finally turned in around 2.

july 31, saturday:
we woke up noon and i made a quick brunch of ham and eggs while mama fed tilda with her lunch. DH had judo practice while i looked through the offerings from the search engine lists till about 4.
i texted mbj about my period and confirmed my sked for the clomiphene. she told me to go for another follicle-monitoring too and shared all the other tips!! looks like we have our work cut out for us,kiddo! wow, babies are sure hard work even before they happen, lol! i can see God smiling...yes Lord, we have to do our part too, we know!

then i had to hurry dressing up coz i had to nip to SM to replace the heavy metal magazine i got for DH (he already had a copy).they didnt have any of his titles so i got a WD(its guilt-free comfort food cover got me!plus it was cheap at P35) and 2 computer mags with the freebie cd for apps and video editing!looks like im moving beyond powerpoint...in heading for the big leagues already...lol!

then it was a long joy-ride for me to head back to cafe uma where we were meeting up with LBI and the azatris for dinner. we ordered pizza, a salad and a pasta dish, which we three shared while waiting for the azatris to arrive. they in turn ordered a risotto and ravioli, and another pizza! the servings were fairly generous so we were all filled to the gills. but not so filled that we passed up on the delights of calea, hehe. we ordered coffee, and various desserts (vanilla ice cream pie for the DH, cream puffs for TRI and isa, broken-glass pie for me). my dessert was not as dangerous as it sounds. actually it was a marshmallow sort of pie with colored gelatin in the middle (hence the name). it seemed the least decadent among the triple chocolatey treats on display. if i werent so full from dinner, id probably gone for the gooeyiest of the lot (did i tell you im a certifiable chocoholic?)

the DH and i have been here (in front of our computers) since we got home. i was supposed to be filing away my digital stuff, but lately, iv been discontented with my organizational system. i may need to overhaul everything, ugh (soooo not relishing the idea!).so i decided to write here instead.but now, even that comes to an end...and il need to get back to my over-stuffed drives! wish me luck on my SB files!

so ciao for now..
